Staff working in Tesco’s pharmacies are not among the estimated 9,000 supermarket employees who will be losing their jobs.

Tesco is axing up to 9,000 positions, in part because it expects approximately 90 stores to close their food counters as a result of customers using them less frequently, it said in a statement this week (January 29).

However, the supermarket told C+D that these cuts will not affect staff working in the company’s more than 300 in-store pharmacies.
