Dispensary Manager

• Responsibility for staff rotas, ensuring Pharmacists and support staff levels are adequate and the appropriate staff levels are maintained.
• Ensuring that tasks and operations are managed efficiently, and tasks are delegated to the most appropriate team member.
• Stock Control:
• Ordering appropriate quantities of stock.
• Checking goods as and when they are delivered.
• Returning incorrect goods to the wholesalers.
• Stocking shelves, refrigerators and other storage areas using rotation method.
• Removing ‘out of date’ stock from the shelves, refrigerators and other storage areas.
• Disposal of returned unused medicines.
• Ensuring routine expiry checks and stock rotation has been done.
• Ensuring invoiced has been checked in each delivery.
• Dispensing:
• Dispensing acute prescriptions.
• Dispensing repeat prescriptions.
• Dispensing private prescriptions.
• Ensuring the Dispensary area remains clean and tidy
• Prescriptions:
• Handing out prescriptions and collecting charges when appropriate.
• Recording private charges
• Completing backs of prescriptions.
• Ensuring prescriptions are endorsed correctly in order to ensure correct reimbursement.
• Controlled drugs – handling, storage, record keeping and associated regulations.
• Ensuring that patients are advised correctly on operational matters such as waiting times/collection times and making sure commitments to patients are kept.
• Making sure that the business is running in accordance with GPhC regulations.
• Manage, supervise, assist and train pharmacy support staff.
• Ensure accurate dispensing of drugs at all times following Company Policies, guidelines and NHS regulations.
• To maintain the dispensary protocols keeping it up to date with changes in practice policy and procedures.
• Develop new business including developing relationships with Doctors surgeries and local nurses.
• Providing services in a sensitive and polite manner.
• Checking and dispensing medication according to prescription and ensuring patients have signed their prescription and charges have been taken as required.

Previous experience in a community pharmacy dispensary management role is must.
