Woolpit Health Centre - Pharmacist Job Description

Salary: Competitive salary offered / depending on experience

Main Purpose of Job

To support the Superintendent pharmacist in ensuring the safe and smooth running of the Pharmacy.

This role reports to the Superintendent Pharmacist, and has a key role working closely with all staff (clinical and non-clinical) across the Health Centre, as follows:

  • Liaising with all Pharmacy Staff (in particular the Dispensary Supervisor and Deputy Supervisor) to ensure day to day safe running of the Pharmacy
  • Liaising with the Superintendent Pharmacist to ensure implementation of the long-term business goals.
  • Working with Partners and the Management Team
  • Interacting with partner agencies and  external organisations as required
  • Maintaining good working relationships with e.g. nursing team, GP’s
  • Support all members of the Health Care Team with all aspects of information regarding medications.

The Post holder will be responsible for supervising the following staff members:

  • Accredited Checking Technicians
  • Dispensing Technicians
  • Dispensary Assistants
  • Counter Assistants

Duties of the successful applicant will include (this list is not exhaustive)

  • Supervise staff in response to business demands and to ensure safe running of the Pharmacy
  • Ensure a high quality, personable, service is provided to all customers
  • Feedback information on business performance to the Pharmacy Team, Partners and Management Team
  • Ensure staff adherence to legal and statutory legislation, and work is undertaken within the regulatory framework of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Carry out the day-to-day activities of a Pharmacist; delivering Medicine Use Reviews, New Medicine Service, accurately checking customer prescriptions and answering queries from patients and other Health Care Professionals.
  • Updating patient medication lists according to discharge summaries.

It is essential applicants meet the following criteria

  • Be registered as a Pharmacist with the GPhC
  • Able to make decisions, lead, motivate and inspire staff
  • Able to address staff training needs and performance issues
  • Proven ability to quickly resolve problems, plan ahead and co-ordinate staff to run effective teams
  • Build effective working relationships with customers, partners, external bodies and colleagues
  • Demonstrate the ability to use own initiative and work efficiently under pressure
  • Proven ability to provide good customer service, remain calm in busy periods ensuring a customer focussed approach
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as a member of a team
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good computer skills

It is desirable applicants meet the following criteria

  • Experience of undertaking projects aimed at improving processes or services
  • Experience in a Dispensing Doctor – Pharmacy hybrid
  • Experience of working to deliver the Healthy Living Pharmacy model
  • Experience of the Pharmacy Quality Payments Scheme

 

 

Hours

Full time 37 hours / Part time hour considered on application

N.B. Additional hours:

  • Saturdays on a rota
  • Flexibility to work extra sessions for holiday and sickness as required
