The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is the professional body for pharmacists and the authentic voice of pharmacy in England, Scotland and Wales. We strive to enhance the reputation and develop the role of pharmacy and through this meet the needs and aspirations of ALL of our members.
This is a time of real change and of real opportunity for the Society in Wales (and indeed throughout the UK) and we are currently seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to take on the key role of Principal Policy Advisor.
Working closely with the Director and the Welsh Pharmacy Board (WPB), your main scope will be to prepare and implement plans for policy development and research which will entail preparing policy proposals on a range of strategic issues for consideration by the WPB. You will also lead on providing professional support to members in Wales as well as representing the Society on Welsh Government Health Department, NHS Wales and other working groups. In addition the role requires that on occasion you would deputise for the Director of Wales, taking appropriate top level decisions where circumstances dictate.
The degree of responsibility this post attracts indicates that we are seeking applications from highly talented and substantially qualified achievers! You must be a practising pharmacist with extensive knowledge and significant experience at a senior level of pharmaceutical professional affairs and practice. You must also be able to demonstrate proven experience and the ability to research issues, analyse information, develop policy options, and prepare recommendations. It is also important that you have the capacity to work well with, and integrate into, a close-knit team.
The nature of the role requires some flexibility with the hours worked which will be at the request of the Director, whilst reasonably frequent travel within Wales and regular travel to London, will be essential requirements of the post.
