Team leaders (x4) and team members (x18)

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is the regulator for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and registered pharmacies in Great Britain and one of its principal functions is to ensure the quality of pharmacy education and training. The GPhC wishes to recruit team members and team leaders to join its Accreditation and Recognition Panel, the group of experts who quality-assure courses on its behalf.

Panel members use their expertise to ensure that education and training courses and qualifications are fit for purpose, through rigorous application of the GPhC’s education and training standards, making judgements on the basis of evidence.

The GPhC wishes to recruit:

Team leaders

Who will guide the accreditation team through the accreditation process, and who must have extensive experience of chairing events and facilitating joint decision making at a senior level.

  • 1 x pharmacy technician
  • 3 x pharmacist/pharmacy academic/lay

Team members

Who will be pharmacy technicians or pharmacists with a role in education or training, or pharmaceutical scientists working in a university school of pharmacy in Great Britain or Northern Ireland.

  • 5 x pharmacy technicians
  • 6 x pharmacists
  • 7 x pharmacy academics

Through this recruitment drive the GPhC wants to increase the diversity of the Accreditation and Recognition Panel.  In particular, the GPhC wants to recruit accreditors from schools of pharmacy not currently represented on the Panel and those who work in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The GPhC welcomes applications from people with disabilities and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people as they are currently under-represented on the Panel.

Accreditation and recognition panel members are remunerated for their work and expenses are paid.

Panel members can expect to be involved in around 6+ days of events per year, plus preparatory and follow up work. Accreditation and recognition events take place both by videoconference and at sites around the around the UK, panel members must therefore be willing to travel and stay overnight. Due to the pandemic, all Accreditation and Recognition events are currently taking place remotely.

Current members of the accreditation panel are welcome to apply for the role of team leader, but may not exceed 12 years on the panel in 20 years, and may not exceed 8 years in either role.
