Support Pharmacist

Pharmacy@QEHB Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary company of University Hospitals Birmingham, which was established in 2011. We provide a pharmacy service for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) and Heartlands Hospital Birmingham (BHH).

We provide a dispensary based service for both the out-patients and in-patients due to be discharged from the hospitals. We operate in a manner akin to a community pharmacy with the hospital clinical pharmacy team maintaining oversight and responsibility for the clinical accuracy of prescriptions.

We are currently recruiting for pharmacists to join our team to work at QEHB and/ or Heartlands Hospital. It is essential that the candidates are flexible and have experience in a busy pharmacy environment with high volume dispensing. All pharmacists are expected to lead the team to deliver the best care for our patients so the successful applicant should be able to demonstrate strengths in both excellent customer service and team leading skills. We welcome applicants from either hospital or community settings.

This is a unique opportunity to support the delivery of the care from our automated pharmacies. We support post-graduate education and the development of staff, therefore this is an ideal opportunity for a pharmacist who may wish to gain secondary care experience to further a clinical pharmacy role in the future.

To apply please send your CV to liz.willmott@uhb.nhs.uk along with a covering letter outlining your previous experience. Closing date for applications is 6th April 2021. Interviews will be held the w/c 12th April 2021

For further information on these posts please contact Liz Willmott (Superintendent Pharmacist) on the above e-mail.

All posts are subject to a disclosure check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Note that all posts are recruited to under terms and conditions  of Pharmacy@QEHB Ltd.

Please note all successful candidates will need to be available to work on a rota basis between 8am and 7:30pm

Company

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is the leading university teaching hospital in the West Midlands. It is one of the most consistently high performing trusts in the NHS and has been rated "excellent" for financial management and "excellent" for quality of clinical and non-clinical services by the Healthcare Commission.

On 16 June 2010 UHB’s new £545 million Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham opened, with A&E and inpatients transferring from Selly Oak Hospital and other services moving from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. More services will transfer during phased moves through to October 2011, with Selly Oak Hospital eventually closing and some services remaining at the old QE, adjacent to the new hospital.

The Trust employs around 6,900 staff and provides adult services to more than half a million patients every year, from a single outpatient appointment to a heart transplant. The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, burns and plastics, and has the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe.

Mental health services and certain women's health services are provided
at the nearby Mental Health and Birmingham Women's hospitals. These services are not based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
