This role would be suited to a fluent Welsh speaker with a pharmacy background, and an interest in pursuing a career in academia.

You will be supported to undertake a higher degree, it may be possible to study a part-time PhD, while teaching. Whilst this is not a mandatory requirement of the role, we would be happy to discuss this further at interview, if this is something you wish to pursue.

The main purpose of the post is to effectively deliver quality teaching and assessment through the medium of Welsh, for our MPharm programme. You will be responsible for quality assurance of modules or other equivalent components of the taught portfolio. You will also review course content and materials, and develop, design and update materials in compliance with quality standards. You may also be required to deliver the material in English.

You will be expected to deliver innovative teaching, which is up to date and informed by research or personal practice. As part of the role, you will contribute to the wider academic community with demonstrable impact and recognition from internal and external sources. Contribute to institutional teaching impact.

As part of the Pharmacy teaching team, you will assist in the design of a forward thinking and unique MPharm programme and curriculum according to sound pedagogical principles. The programme will need to fully prepare Welsh speaking graduates in their expanding roles within the workforce.

You will also assist with accreditation of the new programme by the GPhC and subsequent reaccreditation processes and will deliver and evaluate the components of the MPharm teaching.

As the successful candidate for the role, you will hold a relevant professional qualification i.e., MPharm or a degree or PhD in a relevant subject area. Evidenced by: Membership of a relevant professional body GPhC or register.

It is essential that you have the ability to communicate and teach in Welsh:  Level 3 required – ‘fluent’ e.g., able to conduct a fluent conversation in Welsh on work-related matter. You will also be able to write original Welsh teaching and assessment material correctly and with confidence. This will be evidenced fully at interview.
