Community and Clinical Pharmacist (General Practice)

Employer: Isle of Wight Primary Care – South Primary Care Network

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career and gain experience in a dispensing rural GP practice. You’ll be based in three rural practices on the southern and picturesque Isle of Wight. As a team, we pride ourselves as a highly motivated and community-oriented team.

You’ll utilise the skills and qualifications gained as a community pharmacist, to diversify and grow in experience. This job is aimed at a clinically competent and business minded pharmacist, who has experience in buying drugs and running high quality dispensing service.

In addition to the clinical and dispensing role in South Wight, you’ll be involved in PCN DES quality prescribing and performance projects, which will enhance your leadership roles.

You’ll be self-driven, inquisitive, and keen to learn and drive improvements. Good understanding of procurement of drugs and cost-effective prescribing are key to this role in a dispensing practice. You’ll be able to contribute to the management of the existing dispensing team of nine people.

In this patient-facing role you’ll take responsibility for medicines reconciliation on transfer of care, areas of chronic disease management, undertake clinical medication reviews, provide support to colleagues on prescription and medication queries, support processing of repeat prescriptions, and deal with acute prescription queries.

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in pharmacy, ideally a minimum of two years post-grad experience, and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.  Experience of general practice would be an advantage but is not essential if you can demonstrate understanding of the full medication review within primary care.

Please note, that many of these roles will require travel between practices within our locality site and a full, current UK driving and use of a car will be required.
