Main duties of the job

Are you an enthusiastic pharmacist looking to develop your clinical knowledge and skills? We are looking for patient focused clinical pharmacists to work into our inpatient areas and to provide clinical pharmacist support to our community treatment teams across a range of mental health specialities.  

Applicants should have excellent communication and team working skills and self-motivation to contribute to the development and delivery of the pharmacy service. We welcome applications from pharmacist colleagues working in all sectors of the profession. Prior working experience in mental health is not essential, as a comprehensive programme of education, training and clinical supervision will be provided. We will support you to provide high quality services to patients and healthcare professionals.

Across our Trust, pharmacy staff are fully integrated into and regarded as valued members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Our clinical pharmacy services include:

• Medicines reconciliation and review on admission and discharge
• Supporting patients and carers with the management of their medicines
• Optimising medicines, taking a holistic view of both mental and physical healthcare needs
• Physical health and wellbeing advice
• Discharge planning and liaison with primary care

This includes offering opportunities to undertake post-graduate diplomas and the independent prescriber qualification. Our portfolio includes medicines supply, clinical pharmacy and clinical governance functions. We have an innovative and progressive approach to service design and delivery which has been recognised and commended by the Care Quality Commission, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Health Services Journal.

We provide pharmacy and medicines optimisation services to all our mental health, learning disability and neuro-rehabilitation inpatient areas, as well as to community mental health teams, crisis teams, psychiatric liaison and a variety of other specialist areas.
