The role

This is an opportunity for pharmacists involved in foundation pharmacist training to get involved at a national level. We are looking for panel members across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Each year we hold two national registration assessments for foundation trainee pharmacists. Each assessment comprises of two papers. Part 1 is a 40-item calculation paper and part 2 is a 120-item multiple choice paper. More information on the registration assessment can be found on our website.

The GPhC has a panel of standard setters who review questions for the registration assessment and ultimately set the raw pass mark for each assessment paper using a modified Angoff process.

Standard setting panel members need to be pharmacists currently working in a role with a patient-facing element alongside foundation trainee pharmacists. They must be familiar with the standards for foundation pharmacist training and the knowledge and skills expected of recently registered pharmacists and have experience of joint-decision making. Knowledge of standard setting methodologies, and experience of standard setting and using multiple choice questions in assessment, is desirable but not essential.

Location: We are interested in pharmacists practising anywhere in the United Kingdom. Standard setting panel meetings take place remotely.

Induction: will take place over two days on 9 and 10 January 2024. The session on 9 January will be in person at our offices in Canary Wharf (Expenses will be remunerated in line with the GPhC Associates and Partners expenses policy) and the session on 10 January will take place remotely via Zoom.
