About the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
We are a respected regulatory body that regulates pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies in Great Britain. We work to assure and improve standards of care for people using pharmacy services. One of the main ways we do this is by ensuring the quality of pharmacy education and training.
We are proud of our diverse and inclusive culture and are committed to holding ourselves to the same standards we expect of others.
We are looking for Pharmacists working in all sectors across the United Kingdom to fill multiple positions on our Standard Setting Panel.
The Role:
This is an opportunity for pharmacists currently working in a role with a patient-facing element alongside foundation trainee pharmacists to contribute at a national level.
We are looking for Panel Members across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We are particularly interested in appointing pharmacists practising in community pharmacy and recently qualified pharmacists, but welcome applications from all sectors, countries and experience as panels need to represent the whole pharmacy profession.
Each year we hold two national registration assessments for foundation trainee pharmacists. Each assessment comprises of two papers. Part 1 is a 40-item pharmaceutical calculation paper and part 2 is a 120-item multiple choice paper. More information on the registration assessment can be found on our website.
The GPhC has a panel of standard setters who review questions for the registration assessment and set the raw assessment pass mark using a modified Angoff process. Full training on this process is provided once appointed.
Standard setting panel members need to be pharmacists currently working in a role with a patient-facing element alongside foundation trainee pharmacists. They must be familiar with the standards for foundation pharmacist training and the knowledge and skills expected of recently registered pharmacists and have experience of joint decision making.
The roles are remunerated, and reasonable expenses will be covered (in line with the GPhC’s Associates and Partners expenses policy). Please note: these roles are for an initial 12-month period but may be extended for up to four years.
